If you're fascinated by extreme weather and lightning photography this video is a MUST WATCH!

So many amazing shots of lightning storms, blue jets and red sprites from Australia, with great narration and editing.

Gigantic Jets over Himalayan Mountains

Pictured here are gigantic jets shooting up from a thunderstorm last week toward the Himalayan Mountains in China and Bhutan. The composite image captured four long jets that occurred only minutes apart. Gigantic jets, documented only in this century, are a type of lightning discharge that occurs between some thunderstorms and the Earth's ionosphere high above them.

New images of rare thunder

ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen has captured images of rare thunder phenomena as part of the Thor-Davis experiment on his Huginn mission.

One of the coolest things I've had the opportunity to work on is a new @nasa #CitizenScience project called #Spritacular. Scientists that study transient luminous events ( #TLEs ) have partnered with #StormChasers who enjoy taking photographs of #sprites #trolls #gnomes #BlueJets and other ephemeral beings of the electric TLE fairy kingdom.

The website just launched right around Halloween, so we're still trying to get the word out. Citizen science projects work really well when lots of people participate, so the more people that know about it, the better. Even if you're not a photographer, someone you know might be. And you don't have to be a photographer to help out! You can also help by learning to distinguish among different types of TLEs and verify images that photographers submit.

Help NASA and help science! Learn more about Spritacular here:

And if you don't mind sharing, I would be grateful. 🙏

I adore #Rain and #Storms, and one of the more visually striking aspects of a storm is #Lightning (pun intended 😂). I'm fascinated by the existence of #RedSprites and #BlueJets, although I've never actually seen them. Peripherally related, did you know fire looks different in space??? Something about the lack of gravity affecting it, of course. This "#SpaceFire" makes my list as well. #Stars, #Orbs, #Lights... I just like #Glowy and #Sparkly things!!!
