This one is for @r3ck0n3r who likes #monochrome and #macrophotography and also
a) convinced me to do another 365 project with him,
b) talked me into getting a new camera (after my Nikon was damaged), and
c) suggested the 30mm macro lens used to take this photo.
At this very moment I'm not entirely sure if I want to thank him or kick him in the shins. I'm in a terrible mood today, though.
The photo itself is of the diamond ring that started life as my great-great-grandmother's engagement ring (just the middle stone) and has been handed down (and modified to add the surrounding stones) through 4 generations of kickass women to land (and end) with me. It is without a doubt the fanciest thing any of us has ever owned. I'm not a fan of diamonds but I'm always proud to wear this ring.

The Apparition, Odilon Redon
I haven't put up any Odilon Redon in a while, he's easily one of my favorite artists. I really don't understand how he got here from a blank canvas. The way his mind worked with color and application is fascinating to me. I think that there is just barely enough representation to understand the scene, but all the rest is magic, so much magic. π
