The easiest way to start building decentralized blockchain apps. Blockstack is like a framework that allows people to create and access decentralized apps on top of it. It enables that by letting users created a decentralized ID that is stored on the blockchain (bitcoin) and giving users access to the apps based on that ID (like authentication).

I'm finding out there are many others like #Matrix, #Scuttlebutt, #Diaspora, #Blockstack, and #Solid, developed by Tim Berners-Lee who invented the #WWW. Guess there will be no "best" protocol.

@verymuchwhatever @ademalsasa @MangoMamba @lps Interesting. What I'm wondering: They claim they can circumvent the #haltingproblem in their scripting language (see https://stacks.org/clarity-universe). Does that mean the scripting language is not #turingcomplete? #blockstack

Too many #blockstack apps are poorly maintained or abruptly go out of service and disappear. Of course that's not the problem of blockstack itself but it's rather unfortunate.

Anyone interested in the potential of dapps in the FOSS community? I'm especially looking at those built on #blockstack (https://blockstack.org) and wonder what people think about the blockstack concept as a whole and how this reshapes the power dynamic of software (since FOSS does not always mean trustable with your data).

My recent stumbling onto #Blockstack reminded me of #Zeronet https://zeronet.io, so I thought I'd reload it to see if it's still running...

Sure enough, it's still there. There's even a Snap available for easy installation...

Still like the concept; even if it is like the wild west of the internet... ๐Ÿ˜€
