I'm also delighted to see that my parents' approach of "everything is science" works as well on my kid as it did on me, and we got a solid hour of entertainment out of this activity. 😅

By the time I got back from the bathroom, my kid had put nearly every pin in the teacup pincushion into this cowl. 😂
#BlockingIsMagic but in that it got me a solid half hour of kid entertainment between the washing and the squishing and the pinning!
My finishing tip for #FallFinishAlong is that if you've got young kids, blocking can be even more magical than usual.
Swishing soft things in water? Spinning wet stuff in a salad spinner and watching the water fly out? Wrapping damp yarn in a towel and stomping on it? Stabbing it with pins and wires? All fun! Sure, it takes longer with kid "help" and you have to watch to avoid mishaps, but it changes blocking from a chore to play and it's been a delight. 💚
Blocking magic for my Romi Hill mystery shawl! My 5 year old is very into blocking: he's got to add the water and swoosh the soap in, then after it comes out he's gotta wrap it in a towel and jump on it, then punch it, then maybe throw it around a few times and re-wrap and stomp some more. Then it goes in the salad spinner. And finally there is much stabbing and usually a bunch of extra wires but he took those out while I was still arranging the edges and replaced them with many pins. So not only does my final shawl look great but I got a solid half hour or more of kid entertainment out of the process 😂
Hatch doggy, meanwhile, is a lot less invested in finishing shawls 🐕🥱
