Last Saturday, the 5th, was a clear, warm October day, with a massive migratory wave predicted overnight. I checked out my local recreation park, Grant Park. Although I didn't see an awesome variety of species, there was definitely a marked increase in bird activity from what I had observed over the summer and particularly the past few weeks. Many of these birds were taking advantage of swarming insects and the abundant dragonflies feeding on them. Here are a few shots of what appeared to be a good number of Blackpoll Warblers, or a few very hyperactive ones -- always possible. I counted at least five in the small area I staked out.
