With the latest exodus from the #birdshite, I'm hearing lots of tech/social-media "experts" doing interviews, talking about the social media landscape and #Bluesky versus #Threads.

Somehow they never – or barely – mention the issue of centralized corporate ownership and Mastodon/Fedi and the federation concept get no mention at all.

Besides being shoddy journalism, it makes them look quite ill-informed on their supposed core expertise.

Something I really miss about the #birdshite was being able to moan effectively to brands and have them pay attention.

Turns out, the #garmin #connect app for iOS is useless without internet access.

I'm trying to save a plotted route but because the cell service where I am is poor, it fails to save the route. If I put my phone into airplane mode, it fails to save immediately with an error, but doesn't actually say that it's because there is no internet.

Why can't it save locally and then sync the data later? Wouldn't that be sensible for an app designed to support adventure?
