Tesla's FSD system is facing a growing list of investigations.
NHTSA has escalated its latest investigation to an Engineering Analysis covering an estimated 3,203,754 vehicles — the step that typically precedes a recall. There are now three concurrent NHTSA investigations into FSD, covering visibility failures, traffic violations, and crash reporting gaps.
FSD has engaged in what the agency calls "driving maneuvers that constitute traffic safety violations." The CORE PROBLEM = FSD can’t tell when it’s BLIND!
NHTSA states that in the crashes it reviewed, the system “did not detect common roadway conditions that impaired camera visibility and/or provide alerts when camera performance had deteriorated until immediately before the crash occurred.”
The conditions involved are not exotic edge cases and include sun glare, fog, and airborne dust — things any driver encounters regularly. https://electrek.co/2026/03/19/nhtsa-upgrades-tesla-fsd-visibility-investigation-3-2-million-vehicles/ #Tesla #FSD #AutonomousDriving #NHTSA #Recall #FullSelfDriving #Safety #HighwaySafety #Car_Crashes
