yesterday i made the ultracomb, now i made 4x ultracomb! cpu intensive but it sounds craaaaazy #au5 #sounddesign #musicproduction #ultracomb #flstudio check the full/original post/instance if the download isn't showing up

i basically just quadrupled the ultracomb and put it in a chain. to get that more pronounced effect from Au5's video

this requires AllPassPhase and MUtility to be installed!

i also updated the original ultracomb to include an invert toggle. the 4x ultracomb has that as well :3

i know there's a bunch of patcher presets for the ultracomb already but for example the one Bugsy. made uses like a million parameters and SerumFX which is paid, Exatrict's one has a lot of extra stuff

i can't use just stock plugins afaik, because fruity phaser doesn't have an invert button and vintage phaser sucks. and i can't make my own phaser because there's no included disperser-like effect in FL Studio, which i need, not counting that one patcher preset which is already like a million plugins. too much cpu load

so i'm using the AllPassPhase plugin by enummusic, which is a simple phase dispersion plugin much like kilohearts disperser, to disperse a signal and interfere the result with the dry signal. this essentially recreates Ableton Live's phaser perfectly, so it made it a bit easier to follow Au5's tutorial on making the ultracomb

i'm also using MUtility for phase inversion, i didn't wanna use fruity stereo shaper or fruity phase inverter bc they suck lol!! could've though

other than that, this is entirely made out of stock fx and is really simple to use. it's basically a one to one copy of Au5's ultracomb rack (at least as seen in the video. it just doesn't have that "invert" macro, though it'd easy to add i think)

here's a demo (cw might be a bit loud) featuring 2 instances of the thing on a saw wave, some noise, and an FMed saw

also there's the patch download :3 check on the original instance if the .fst download isn't showing up

how to au5/xtrullor phaser bass in VITAL because everyone does it in harmor and i had to adapt it and i don't like that

step 1 get a vital

step 2 edit the wavetable of osc 1, right click on the second vertical lines thing (that's the phases of all the harmonics). click randomize. play some notes, that's the kinda sound we want as a base

step 2.5 (optional) create several keyframes in the thing below and do the randomize thing for each of them, this will create a wavetable and that's useful for adding movement and variety and whatever. use that to liking

step 3 set it to max unison at 0% phase randomization. this will give it a lasery effect

step 4 in the effects tab, add a phaser and take the depth down to minimum (or just add a filter with the phaser filter selected idk), and take the resonance down to minimum. then get an lfo and draw any shape (change to liking later, rn this is just for demo), assign that to the filter cutoff/phaser center whatever. this gives it that sound yeeeea

step 5. profit, from here just automate it to liking. post processing could be OTT compression, distortion, reverb, chorus, dimension expander, maybe a vocoder, chroma for that colour bass secret sauce, etc. also for actual arrangement the glide and legato thingy in vital would be useful :3
