The fluorescent white layers the Hyatt Regency Atlanta's famous atrium remind us of the display pieces we made for a show once. https://pixelfed.social/p/Xover0/976528516017220260

We have had the pleasure of visiting this hotel 3 times between 2021 and 2025.

FUN FACTS:

It was developed and designed by architect John Portman, The building opened as the "Regency Hyatt House" in 1967.

Its rooftop restaurant Polaris is noted as Portman's first use of the rotating restaurant - which became one of his design signatures.

Over time, its popularity led to further development of the Peachtree Center, which it anchored.

It was the first of Portman's notable additions to skylines and silver screens across the world, including Detroit's Renaissance Center (now General Motors headquarters) The Atlanta Marriott Marquis (as seen in the Hunger Games trilogy) The Hyatt Embarcadero (as seen in Mel Brooks's High Anxiety) The Bonaventure in Los Angeles (as seen in so many movies it has its own video essay, "Los Angeles, the City in Cinema: the Bonaventure Hotel")
