Currently laughing at myself for thinking this would only take 2 sessions. I’m finding that I’m having to take a lot more breaks to reorient myself with this, especially as it becomes about the finer details. There is still something that isn’t hitting right for me around the lips. I’ve gotten a lot closer by flipping everything upside down, and taking breaks to work on the hair instead (it’s the most fun so far).
Anyway, I’m excited to hopefully finish sometime this week🤞 this whole process has taught me a LOT so far and I think my next portrait will go much quicker.

I splurged on a drawing tablet this week (first one ever!), today was day two with it and I’m pretty stoked about it. I messed around a lot with it yesterday, and almost had a good Eddie Redmayne portrait until I blended it to the point that he looked like a member of Good Charlotte. Today I decided to go with #DavidBowie, a much more familiar face for me. Taking what I learned from painting Eddie’s weird cousin from Maryland (lol) I re-examined my approach today. This time through I’ve blended MUCH less, and the more little strokes of the basic round brush I leave in, the better it looks. Turns out visual mixing isn’t just for physical media! This isn’t done, but I can’t believe it’s something that I of all people made. I’ve never had so much fun drawing faces before! Now after 5+ hours my hand is pretty freaking cramped, so hopefully I’ll be able to finish tomorrow 🤞
