Please answer this questionnaire only if you work in the field of archaeology. It will take you ca. 10 minutes. Data will be handled anonymously. We are a group of archaeologists worried about how rapid climate change is affecting life on Earth at many levels. We know that this is a direct consequence of capitalism, and that the only effective way to reverse, or at least stop, this process is a change of system. In the meanwhile, this questionnaire intends to understand how often and how archaeologists travel to conferences, congresses and other meetings. This does not include field work, except for the questions where it is specified. We are aware that work-related trips in our field do not contribute a significant amount of greenhouse emissions to the global figures, but we want to explore the willingness and capabilities that we have to minimize our impact. This two-day symposium will present the latest advances on the transition to farming in the British Isles and the Japanese archipelago as well as the key outputs of the ENCOUNTER project. A total of 19 speakers will discuss different aspects of this pivotal event, covering aspects such as population genetics, cultural transmission, paleoecology, subsistence economy and paleodemography. Doing some (imprecise but internally coherent) georeferencing of plans from Tell Chuera. There is a strange lack of a nice and precise general plan for recent excavations at Chuera (which are extremely well documented otherwise), but the plans of the old digs are giving a good compensation.
