The new #alexa+ seems to be pretty terrible. I have been disappointed since they broke the list integration with #AnyList (forcing you to use a 'skill' that made conversational interaction limited) but now they've totally enshittified that along with most day to day use. Can't see me spending money on another Echo device (not that any of the options are great either)

#Amazon have well and truly screwed up what, for many, was one of the most useful tools on #Alexa / #Echo: integration with third-party list apps

#anylist was a superb piece of software (still is, to be fair), but it’s completely hobbled now by the unreliable, unwieldy and forced Skill integration

If this is how Amazon convince users to pay a sub to use Alexa in the future they’re going about it all wrong 🤨

Grrr, #amazon are withdrawing their Alexa List Skill API, which breaks the fantastic integration #anyList had in the past

Now we have to do that ungainly “Alexa, ask AnyList to…” thing, or use the far inferior native shopping list functionality in Alexa

I believe this affects #Todoist, as well

Alexa will soon lose a popular shopping list feature

On July 1st, Amazon is disabling Alexa’s third-party voice integration that’s used by shopping and to-do lists like AnyList and Todoist.

@peteralee Agreed. I hate subscriptions but I’ve been paying for #AnyList for *years* and have several thousand recipes saved up!
Just paid my $15 annual subscription to #AnyList app with absolute pleasure.
It’s probably the most useful app on my iPhone, especially as it’s shared between the 3 of us in the house- planning meals, storing recipes, and of course compiling shopping lists.

@bobdoto @ollie_francis as a counterpoint, I’ve tried every todo app under the sun and nothing worked for me until I made my personal task list a loosely structured note in #obsidian.

The last todo app I tried, #anylist, is now just a glorified shopping list I share with my spouse. For that, it works perfectly. But todo apps are just too rigid for my brain.

One exception is #programming project management for which I use the #kanban plugin in Obsidian.
