They may look cute, but these tiny, fierce marsupials are quite the party animal – with many dropping dead after lengthy sex fests – and others becoming cannibals.

All male antechinuses die due to sex-fuelled exhaustion, and it's recently been observed that still-living male and female members will take advantage of the cheap energy boost by feasting on their fallen comrades.

This cute #mammal is an #antechinus. I knew nothing about them, so got intrigued. Oh, wow.

The male of the species kills itself with #sex. It does nothing but shag, with as many females as possible, sometimes more than one at the same time. With sessions lasting up to 14 hours. It has that much sex, its body falls apart. It dies in a rampant sex fuelled frenzy.

This all before its 1st birthday.
