Here’s an example of what can’t happen on our mastodon.cosmicnation.co instance. Unless you’re invited, registration must be approved by me or my colleague. Additionally, you’ll have to pay a hefty fee of 9USD annually for our service. (This fee includes extras.) Why? We only want serious individuals to use our name in their handles.

How many monthly or annual subscriptions do you have?

I completely underestimated the number. I thought it was maybe 5 or 6. And then I went through all the apps on my phone, and counted how many I pay something for on an ongoing basis.

It wasn't 5 or 6. It was 13!

And that's just for services that have phone apps. I don't even know the number of subscriptions I have for things that don't have apps.
