🎵 Like You Really Mean It

from the album You’re Free to Go
In the week before Sunday 23rd of November I'd planned to share #Anjimile's album 'The King', but then one parent passed away on the Saturday before & on the Monday after my other parent showed Alzheimer's disease for the 1st time. Therefore this beautiful album became a whole different beast and got a completely different meaning for me than probably intended by Anjimile.
@anjimile is here on Mastodon btw. Please give him a follow, maybe he will start posting here too.

McKinley Dixon’s Magic, Alive! era begins with Sugar Water, a rich blend of jazz, boom bap, and soul featuring #QuelleChris & #Anjimile. A meditation on memory and loss wrapped in soaring trumpets and warm harmonies. 🎺✨ #McKinleyDixon #CitySlang #BestNewMusic2025 #Week08
McKinley Dixon kicks off Magic, Alive! with “Sugar Water,” a track that blends soul, jazz, and live-band boom bap. Featuring Quelle Chris and Anjimile, the song wrestles with memory, loss, and the weight of keeping the past alive. Dixon’s lyricism, always sharp and introspective, turns the concept of remembrance into something almost spiritual—what does it truly mean to keep someone alive in memory? What’s the cost of carrying those who are gone through time?
