Because I often buy index cards in tranches of 5,000 to 10,000 at a time, I’ve noticed that Oxford recently dropped their brick of 500 4×6″ index cards to $6.47, a new low for the past year when they’ve generally been hovering in the $8.50-9.50 range. As a competitive move, Amazon has dropped their competing brick to $5.82, also a new annual low. If your card index habit is price sensitive, now is the time to buy.

Ever wondered how Amazon Basics sells tech accessories so cheaply? It’s not magic — it’s data, bulk manufacturing and a zero-marketing model. https://english.mathrubhumi.com/technology/amazon-basics-tech-accessories-explained-nnao4tpj?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon #AmazonBasics #BudgetTech #AffordableGadgets #TechAccessories

I am very excited right now! I figured out why I’m getting slowdown in the PS1 and PS2 games I mentioned in my previous post, and there is a pretty funny story that accompanies my revelation.

Thanks to a Reddit comment, I have determined that the slowdown is caused by the game running off my SD card, as FF8 has zero slowdown when on the internal storage of my Razer Edge. The funny thing is, it’s an #AmazonBasics card, and just last night I watched a new YouTube video about the brand by MrWhosetheboss.

I still have to try a different SD card to definitively lay the blame on Amazon Basics but it’s an interesting coincidence.

Update: FF8 runs much better with an old SanDisk card I have, although I have had a couple of slowdowns. The transfer speeds of the Amazon Basics card are “up to 100MB/s”, whereas the SanDisk card says “up to 140MB/s”. I wonder if a microSD card with even higher speeds would alleviate the issue altogether.

I'm probably not the typical customer but this weirs #Amazon strategy looks weird... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2p3fZyV254 if I'm looking for Eneloops for example, I type "eneloop", scroll past the clutter and buy the item I want. If I want #AmazonBasics I'll type that instead (btw they are not rebranded Eneloops anymore). I fail to see how someone looking for an Anker cable would search for that and then buy an unrelated product. Am I missing something?
