Weird experience: I got to the Line G stop at the Salesforce Center just as the FS bus departed in front of us. Then, just after getting off the Line G bus on Solano, I cross the street and that same Line FS bus (not in service at that point) stops to let me cross.

@dev Agree. My #VTA + #BART + #ACTransit route used to be $8.55 on my #clippercard , now it's $3.70. Not sure how this math / finance works out.

I did read that the current discount is up for review in approx 18-24 months.

It was one of those crappy Mondays where, on my #commute to the office in the time shifted morning dark, on 3 bus lines (2 #vta , 1 #actransit ) and a train, 2 of the three bus runs were cancelled.

Tried to make the most of it with inbox purging and extended reading/podcasts. Got to the office over an hour late.

#amorfati : yes, trying so hard. 😀 It wasn't raining.

💖 Lately, we try to take public transit to Round 1 locations. We could drive, yes, and it's cheaper if only accounting for gas prices. But public transit allows us to relax while en route, since we're not in charge of the vehicle, and we don't have to worry about Fighting For Parking at our destination, especially in car-unfriendly areas like San Francisco. While public transit in the Bay Area is nowhere near as stellar as it is in, say, Japanese big metros, it's still a vital collection of infrastructure for those who cannot drive (no car, no license, don't have the mental health for it, etc.)

Though unfortunately because we live someplace where taking just public transit is impractical, we have to utilize park-and-ride lots.
I don't like having to pay for parking, but at least at Milpitas BART it's "only" $2.50 instead of $5.50 at Caltrain.

Usually, we will take trains to get to Southland Mall or Stonestown Galleria. But for Eastridge we just drive because public transit, especially railed transit, in San Jose is so sparse and unreliable that we may well just drive instead.

I've been waiting a long time to ride this bus. It was cancelled during the pandemic and was just reinstated this year.
It goes to the top of a hill with a lot of scenic downhill bike routes.

In 1999 I was appointed to the #ACTransit Riders Advisory Committee. I pushed through a resolution opposing wraps on windows. Didn’t go anywhere, sadly. https://urbanists.social/@otiswhite/115497211289238762

Most #transit systems see “wrapping” buses and trains with advertising as … well, free money. But does it detract from the riders’ experience? Denver’s transit system thinks so and is stopping the ads. Will this make a difference? Yes, if the system follows with a hundred other ways of making buses and trains a better experience. https://denverite.com/2025/10/29/denver-rtd-bans-window-wrap-advertising/

Completely full AC Transit Line O buses have been forced to leave hopeful passengers at bus stops. "The overcrowding on Line O is likely attributable to the continuing return-to-office trend in downtown San Francisco, as well as the discontinuation of the Line OX Transbay route..." writes Ken Der. https://alamedapost.com/news/ac-transit-hopes-address-transbay-overcrowding/
