Just coming back to this, this was the result of that question. This was pretty much what I would have expected.
If Laura actually manages to hold her seat, the Greens should be very proud of themselves.
It is so close though, but it is looking like she might actually win the 5th seat. Still a bit of counting to go.
"We have fought and lost multiple elections opposing light rail. In Kurrajong, which has seen first-hand the city building benefits of light rail, we faced a humbling 4 per cent swing against us," Mr Bouckaert wrote on X.
Labor says Canberra voted for light rail? Well then there is no excuse for lack of ambition.
Full steam ahead, Labor needs to get it to Canberrans who are eagerly waiting, and fully involve them in the process.
What a night. It isn't at all surprising Labor has won. While I am sure there are some who are hurt, this should not have been surprising at all.
It is fantastic to see that Fiona & Tom were so successful. However, I am sad to see the Greens are likely to loose seats. But I am glad to see that Jo Clay has retained hers. Transport policy wise, this is someone I did want to see stay in the assembly.
It will be interested to see how agreements form in the coming weeks.
Further to this story …
To give credit where it is due, Ms Lee gave a gracious and eloquent #ConcessionSpeech tonight: one of the finest I have seen in three decades of watching politics and one in the finest traditions of #LiberalDemocracy. She should be applauded.
The #CanberraLiberals would be wise to keep her as their #Leader.
Not complaining, just an observation. Has anyone else noticed there seems to be quite a bit of line work completed recently on Canberra roads?
I thought it was just some roads in Fyshwick, but I'm noticing it in the city as well.
Timing is just interesting.
