I’m considering creating my own mastodon-instance, but I’ll need to use a managed hosting service like fedihost or masto-host, as I lack the technical ability to set one up from scratch.
Which one of the above mentioned services is the best?
Or are there other fediverse hosting services besides those two?

I'm trying to figure things out and also see how I can search for and follow people and tags, since I can't do it from the main blob.cat site. That said, there does appear to be two different interfaces! One is blob.fe and the other is blab.fe. I don't really understand this yet, but I'm sure I will in time. Perhaps, one is the main Akkoma setting. That said, while TweeseCake is fully functional, Enafore, Semaphore, and Elk.zone all seem to be down. They all send the request to blob.cat, and I am able to authorise it, but I can't post anything or see anything related to Notifications, my profile, etc. I would expect this from Semaphore, as it's older, but Enafore is its direct replacement, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work. Elk.zone says right on the page that it's experimental, so again, I am not surprised there.

I'm happy to see PixelFed being adopted by many more people and how it will highlight the Fediverse. I also fear that the lovely lovely images posted here on Mastodon with descriptions will go away and will be segrigated to another platform or that people on PixelFed will not pay attention to photo descriptions as much as they do here on mastodon. I hope that people will remain as vigilent there about #acccessibility.

Yeah, some blind programmers could, but the average person just wants to get things done as easily as possible. Sorry, Linux doesn’t meet that need right now. If/when it does, I will gladly introduce it as an alternative to Windows for my clients. #a11y #acccessibility #linux #opensource (4/4)
