At this point, I am assuming that it will be legally impossible, or at the very least unwise, for me to (try to) travel from Oklahoma to Germany for my 30th high school reunion in July to see friends I haven't seen in 20 years.

Almost 28 years ago, when I did my Abitur (final comprehensive exam for graduating from the university-prep track of high school), they weren't teaching this. But then, the US wasn't in such a sorry state 28 years ago either.
