So there was an election here today and the polls closed fully 2 hours ago and in my (urban) riding they have counted...
30 ballots
Seriously something has gone sideways somewhere even if they say everything is running normally.
What is it? Lack of scrutineers? Is collating results from all the new tabulators used at advanced polls a tricky process?
Hey, instead of watching the #alberta election I may just watch Up! instead. It's the 14th anniversary of it's release. Balloons always make me happy.
And I can't do a darn thing about the #abelection so there's no use dwelling on the results. I'll be slapped in the face with them soon enough.
And hey - balloons!
I put my new Canadian citizenship to work ASAP! This easily tied for the quickest voting experience I ever had, and the ballot was unbelievably simple -- so elegant! (v different from all those WI elections!)
@Legopolis told the volunteers about my new citizenship, and everyone applauded! It was really special! #AbElection

Alberta election poll tracker hat update - ooof.
Some of the poll results have leads of one percentage point and well within the margin of error. (Should I have included pale stripes for razor-thin leads? Hindsight).

“real wage growth in Alberta has been negative since 2019”
beginning precisely when the UCP government gave a $4 Billion gift (yes, with a B) to mostly foreign corporations operating in Alberta.
That’s a $900 gift on behalf of *every *single *person *in *Alberta.
$4,500 from my household
I don’t understand why ‘ordinary’ Albertans, the Martha and Henry kind, aren’t livid about this.
Re Tommy Douglas, the ‘patron saint’ of New Democrats in Canada:
As the premier of Saskatchewan, his Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) never ran a deficit during 17 years in power and dedicated 10 per cent of provincial revenues to paying down debt built up by the previous Liberal government. Find me a conservative premier who can say the same thing (hint: you can’t).”
