I really am grateful to #ZocDoc for sending my wife and me email letting us know that they've updated their privacy policy, because this prompted me to say to myself, "Wait a minute, the only provider of ours that used ZocDoc no longer does, so there's probably no longer any reason for us to have our data on this platform and we should tell them to delete it," followed by logging into the site for my wife and me and doing exactly that.

It looks like ZocDoc is hitting hard and heavy with content creator sponsorships again.

Let me tell you my experience.

When I was looking for a new endocrinologist, it could not find me one. It wasn't telling me that it couldn't find one. I would understand if there were no endocrinologists who have made themselves available through ZocDoc.

But instead of telling me there were none found, it started directing me to diet and weight loss professionals. Not even strictly medical professionals.

I'd expect something called Zoc... Doc... to show me... doctors.

Looking now, I see 2 or 3 endocrinologists in results, now. But the results are quite large, and most of what I see are FNP and PA. There's also a couple DOs and maybe some MDs.

But here's the thing... I was looking for a diabetes specialist to talk to about getting an insulin pump. My PCP, a DO, was not comfortable having this conversation with me. And I suspect over 90% of these results would be in the same position.

The few endocrinologists I found? They were NOT at the top of the list, even though I'm specifically looking for them.

If I'm looking for a specialist, there's probably a reason. And it's especially insulting to be pushed towards "oh you want to lose weight huh" while I'm actually trying to improve my chronic disease management and, well, survive. No, I wasn't fucking looking for ozempic you ghouls.

ZocDoc is NOT a serious platform for finding a specialist, even though the ad reads specifically push this. Don't even bother. Talk to your primary care provider. Your insurance may require a referral anyway.

Apple wspiera cyfrową rewolucję zdrowia w USA – razem z Białym Domem i 60 firmami technologicznymi

Apple dołącza do rządowej inicjatywy na rzecz cyfrowej transformacji systemu opieki zdrowotnej w USA.

Celem projektu – prowadzonego przez CMS, Office for Civil Rights i Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy – jest stworzenie bezpieczniejszej, bardziej spersonalizowanej opieki zdrowotnej oraz przekazanie pacjentom większej kontroli nad ich danymi medycznymi.

Do kluczowych założeń projektu należą:

  • Promowanie CMS Interoperability Framework – nowego standardu wymiany danych między aplikacjami, placówkami i pacjentami.
  • Rozwój narzędzi ułatwiających zarządzanie zdrowiem, w tym aplikacji do obsługi cukrzycy, otyłości i AI-asystentów zdrowotnych.
  • Rezygnacja z papierowych formularzy – tzw. „kill the clipboard”, czyli cyfrowe meldowanie się pacjentów.

Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung i inni zobowiązali się do wdrażania narzędzi zgodnych z FHIR i Smart Health Cards, ułatwiających dostęp do danych i bezpieczną ich wymianę.

Więcej szczegółów znajdziesz na stronie CMS.gov.

@leo Just wanted to give you a shout out on #ZocDoc I wish I had known about this a few months ago. Huge benefit is to find one in my network. Cuts cost significantly and I was able to get one on the weekend for a virtual appoint and fill prescription.
I often wonder what the actual point of #ZocDoc is if I have to call the doctor's office anyway? Every time! 🤪
