Zip-Drive Emulator Puts Big Disks Back On LPT

Iomega’s Zip drives filled an interesting niche back in the 1990s. A magnetic disk that was physically floppy-sized, but much larger in capacity– starting at 100 MB, and reaching 750 MB…

Frankly, I miss PCMCIA, and ZIP drives. Computing that required putting chunky cards and cassettes and stuff into drives. Old 90s anime style computing.

Playing around with virt-manager in #opensuse. #win98se running. Still fiddle around to share an image or folder with the host linux.
#zipdrive will be the playaround, if I can't manage :)
When was your last #Terminal session in #Windows3 to transfer a few driver files via xmodem protocol? My successful try is a few minutes ago and now the small and handy #HP #OmniBook #HP600C can speak with the #ZipDrive.

When you did that "put an old Macintosh on the Internet" thing already in the late 1990s and nobody cared (or mainly considered you a silly stupid nerd). #macintoshplus #ppp #zipdrive

Old tech. Is this stuff of any use to anyone, or is it all just e-waste? I suspect the latter but it seemed worth asking before it goes for recycling. London, UK. Also a box of cables (network and coax mostly)
