I cheated a bit and POKED memory addresses (still all BASIC) rather than get messy and chuck arrays of strings around.

Inspired by your stream last night I wrote a quick and nasty #ZXSpectum #BASIC version of the game "Surround"
My version doesn't have a score or a death condition (yet).
It does have collision detection so the appearing blocks can't overwrite your character and you cannot move into an occupied block. The video is real time so it moves quite fast at the moment. The listing is less than 2 screens of BASIC.

This one was weird. It featured a machine that had taken human form, and you had to work through its seven stages of life. The audio came by way of a tape you played in sync with the game, which featured the likes of Ian Dury and Jon ‘The Doctor’ Pertwee. A kind of multimedia experience at least a decade ahead of its time, DEM was like nothing else out there. And nothing since.
