The Beatles' "Yesterday and Today" released this day in 1966.

Capitol Records selected songs that the company had culled from the albums the band released in Britain and other territories overseen by EMI, together with tracks issued on what were non-album singles outside North America.

Lost If Not for Yesterday

History gives a map of future’s way, Left by those who sailed our waters yesterday. Darkness hides deep below, naps in mystery, While warnings flowed stray, And now we question life beyond this day. Our anchored hope, though veiled, Claps at fear, And waves victory Where hearts now lay. False hope exists alone for they Who allow their soul to be lost and sink away. —MD Lost If Not for Yesterday

I know it’s the height of narcissism to quote your own post, but I don’t think people realize the magnitude of this. So I’m adding a boatload of hashtags to hopefully expand reach. This is Bay Area rock history.

Attached: 1 image Okay, this is insane. Any Bay Area rock fan who’s been around a few decades knows Y&T. Or should know them. They are celebrating 50 years, photo below is from their recent show in Santa Cruz. Dave Meniketti is auctioning off some rare Y&T memorabilia, including this. His ONLY copy of the test pressing of their very first album, recorded in 1976. Unfortunately, it’s beyond my budget. But I want my fellow Mastodonians to bid this into the stratosphere. This is rarest of the rare, the definition of one of a kind. The ultimate prize for any Bay Area metal fan. No, I’m not getting any commission. I just can’t believe something like this is even available. Astounding. #YandT #BayAreaMetal https://store.yandtrocks.com/products/vinyl-test-pressing-yesterday-today-album
