The semicircular shawl is nearly out of yarn, but not yet out of rows. I will switch to a complementary but far brighter colour when it runs out. I played #YarnChicken and lost. (Being fair to myself, the pattern predicted 1200 m, I purchased 1380 m, and used a smaller needle, but still missed the gauge somehow.)

Still have not decided if I will block to points, or a soft ripple.

I have defeated the Yarn Chicken!

Yesterday it was nearly 80F/27C* and I finally finished the Harlow Worsted hat I've been working on the last couple of months of winter.

I'm really happy with how it turned out! This should go nicely with the Wheat Scarf that I made using the same golden colored yarn. It's taller than the one I made with Oni's fur so I can get better ear coverage while still folding up the brim for contrast, and I think I got the height spot on this time.

I like strategic design decisions to combat the yarn chicken. I wasn't sure I'd be able to complete the crown with the golden yarn I had left, so I added in the graduated stripes in gray to make the gold last longer. It worked! I kind of wish I'd started the stripes lower down now. I think it has more character than if I'd simply switched to all gray when the gold ran out, as was my original plan.

A) stop these socks now and make them ankle socks and have enough yarn left over to *possibly* make a second pair of ankle socks?

B) keep knitting this pair until the yarn runs out, no matter how tall they end up being?

C) intend to follow through with B but get bored and stop too late to have enough yarn left for A but instead have an awkward amount left?

Tantalisingly close to finishing a sock (my first ever!) on a round loom.. but I lost yarn chicken and have to wait untill I can buy more of the same.

It's a tube sock with ribbed cuff and as I used a loom, that somehow ~feels~ like cheating?* even though I am definitely a beginner and only just realised the pattern is apparently advanced 👀😑
