【世界珊瑚礁日快樂！】

6月1日是世界珊瑚礁日，珊瑚礁占海洋的總面積0.2%，但有25%的海洋物種在此生存，可說是生物多樣性的嘉年華，海洋中的雨林。講到珊瑚礁，大家可能第一時間想到澳洲的大堡礁，它是世界上面積最大的珊瑚礁，總面積達 34 萬 8 千平方公里，從外太空都能看見。不過你知道大堡礁面積已減少40％以上了嗎？

台灣過去也有「珊瑚王國」的美名，台灣的珊瑚礁總面積雖然不到500平方公里，雖然微不足道，但珊瑚種類卻高達300種，足以和大堡礁媲美。台灣四面的沿海幾乎都有珊瑚礁分佈，而越靠近熱帶的離島，如綠島、蘭嶼、東沙、南沙群島，珊瑚的種類越多。

環境資訊中心過去每年都有幫台灣的珊瑚礁製作體檢報告，根據2009—2020年的數據，以「紅綠燈」燈號，說明各地珊瑚礁的健康程度，則除了蘭嶼之外，全台珊瑚礁皆是處於危險的「紅燈」狀態。
