Last week the world recorded temperatures 2 degrees Celsius warmer than pre-industrial levels for the first time in modern recorded history. It's an important development as countries get to adress their CO2 emissions at the COP28 starting next week.
Bad news: "In California, the record-setting fire season of 2020, which produced five of the state’s seven largest fires in modern history, also entirely erased its emissions gains over the previous 16 years — putting twice as much carbon into the atmosphere as had been saved by all of the state’s decarbonization policies from 2003 to 2019."
