It's #WorldCleanAirDay and did you know that #Nuclear has among the lowest lifecycle carbon footprints of all energy sources? It's even 10x cleaner than solar PV!

More nuclear 🀝 More clean air

https://ourworldindata.org/safest-sources-of-energy

What are the safest and cleanest sources of energy?

Fossil fuels are the dirtiest and most dangerous energy sources, while nuclear and modern renewable energy sources are vastly safer and cleaner.

Our World in Data
Clean air should not be a luxury. It’s a right. Where you live shouldn't determine your health. But it does. On #WorldCleanAirDay, @who.int calls on leaders to take action & tackle this unfairness. Reducing air pollution helps prevent heart disease, asthma & lung cancer β€” saving millions of lives

It's #WorldCleanAirDay and did you know that still millions of people die every year from burning fossil fuels? That's a 'Chornobyl' every 7 minutes or so! #Nuclear has an undeserved bad reputation, and actually saves people's lives simply by not polluting the air. It could save many more if we replaced dispatchable fossil with dispatchable nuclear.

Data review: how many people die from air pollution?

This data review presents published estimates of the global death toll from air pollution and provides the context that makes them understandable.

Our World in Data

It's #WorldCleanAirDay and it's a good moment to realise that clean #Nuclear energy has saved many lives. In 2013 NASA published a paper that it saved 1.8 million people from the disastrous effects of air pollution.

Nuclear power is often promoted as a low-carbon source that mitigates fossil fuel emissions and the resulting health damage and deaths caused by air…

It's #WorldCleanAirDay and it's a good moment to point out how much nuclear energy contributed to having clean air. As short ago as 2005 Ontario still had 53 smog days. That went down to just 2 in 2014, after which they ceased completely. How? Because they shut down their coal plants and replaced them with clean nuclear.

Now they celebrate having clean lungs. Go #Nuclear!

Ontario leads way on air quality

Other provinces and jurisdictions should follow Ontario's lead to improve the quality of life for people who live with asthma, allergies and other respiratory illnesses, according to a joint report by Bruce Power and Asthma Canada.

RT by @EU_ENV: On this #WorldCleanAirDay, remember that:

🌫️ 250.000 premature deaths occur due to particulate matter in the EU every year.
🌫️ Air pollution costs the EU €853 billion per year.

The πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί is on track to reduce the health impact due to air pollution by 55% by 2030.
