Is anyone else a little excited about Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka? I still have PTSD from the Tim Burton Wonka with Johnny Depp, so hopefully this isn't as much of a travesty. Even if it is good though, nothing will be Eric Idol's original performance.

Saw Wonka. Enjoyed it but it's confused, feels like the studio tried to impose a conventional kids film onto it - mostly unsuccessfully but to the detriment of the film (Wonka did not need family subplots!).

But the rest seems like a more pure Dahl adaptation than the actual adaptations - silliness and cynicism intact (even as it clashes with the studio film).

Good film, could've been a lot better, the best Dahl film buried in the confusion somewhere.

Based on the trailer, I won't be going to see the "Wonka" movie. I've long loved the Willy Wonka and Mary Poppins characters in their respective books.

Both characters are magical and time spent with them is exciting. But there is also a sense of danger about them and a feeling of actual malice if you fail to meet their expectations. And you know that you are almost certainly not going to meet their expectations.

Only Gene Wilder captured that danger in the movies.

Het duurt nog even voor de film 'Wonka' met Timothée Chalamet (27) in de bioscoop verschijnt, maar de eerste recensenten hebben de musicalfilm al gezien. Dat betekent dat de eerste reviews binnen zijn en die zijn behoorlijk goed. Dus dat wordt smullen.
