The old tree behind the house was cursed. Its bark split like veins, and thick black sap oozed from the cracks.

Happy Wicked Wednesday

They said the dolls were harmless. Pretty little things with glass eyes and painted smiles.

But every night, I hear the clinking of porcelain from the nursery. Tiny footsteps tapping across the floorboards. Whispered giggles behind the door.

a cup of tea already poured, still warm.

And my name stitched neatly into a doll’s silk dress.

One of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken of a post-rain peony from my parents’ garden, circa I have no freaking clue but also surprised at the quality since it was from my phone years ago. Anyways, enjoy my contribution as us in the northeast still live vicariously through all of your beautiful photos of spring sprunging!

I wouldn't normally share a #WickedWednesday post from my "Happy Bookers' Readers Group (http://Facebook.com/groups/HeidiBettsHappyBookers) here on my regular page, but this one just cracked me up and I thought other grammarly types might enjoy it, too. 🤣🤣🤣
