I spent so much of my life, probably well into my 20s, with people like that. for about a decade I’ve been learning how to let my nervous system know I’m not actually in danger when I break the rules. #WhitenessRecovery

recognizing guilt/shame bc of the chance of my birth/social location doesn't serve anyone, it's still something that gets in my way. self-worth tangles up w/ "the system is so fucked other adults are trying to make it on minimum wage" and I am part of the problem #WhitenessRecovery

writing is one of the ways I process things, here's a note from me to other white people related to our response to the election: https://serenebabe.net/to-white-people-like-me-re-the-usa-election/

omg I'm white and I talk with/hold space with other white people about our racism and omg we (progressive/liberal/leftist mostly upper-middle class institutionally educated white people) are SO FUCKING EXHAUSTING. we don't know how to go with the flow or how to Not Control. we get so easily frightened when there aren't strict rules of conduct. we rarely can just BE in a space together without written agendas and documentation. ughhhhh. I will persist, but I do need to vent. #WhitenessRecovery

One of my favorite TikTik people. A “Cultural Liberation Worker.” I especially recommend her for my fellow white people https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTFNjLUGw/

Now I'm confused -- and this is only based on TikTok and other social media. I'm seeing Black women say we should call her Kamala because that's what she's choosing to call herself on social media (see #KamalaHQ Official on twitter, Instagram, TikTok).

So, if I say I "listen to Black women" I refer to her as Kamala?

I know in #WhitenessRecovery there are rarely binary right/wrong answers, but I'm feeling especially confused here.

As a white woman I'm wondering why white women aren't rallying in support of and for Harris the way Black women (and now Black men) have.

It's not something I'd normally do (get involved in electoral politics beyond voting) so I'm not surprised by myself but I am curious why other white women haven't done anything yet?

PS I'm trying to refer to her as Harris rather than Kamala Harris just like I refer to Biden as Biden not Joe Biden.
