Not often that my home village gets mentioned in the news. A rainy bank holiday weekend means the annual Well Dressing Festival, this year being the 181st. When I was a kid the most exciting part was the funfair, which back then had a few arcade machines as well as the rides, something I didn't get to play too often.

It's a few years since I last went—moving out of the county does create an obstacle—but I'm glad to see that the event continues. Well Dressing Queen, maypole dancing, and all the other odd traditions.

Checked out some of the dressed wells in Malvern this weekend. The theme was "folklore and fairy tales".

By far the best two: Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and Eco Bhakti Sangha's Krishna and Kaliya (with SO MANY BANGLES making the snake!)

Now I just need to sort through the pics, crop and edit 😐

I'm not religious, but it would be nice to learn about some local history, and I can go during my lunch hour 😀

Being a #Derbyshire resident I have a real soft spot for the annual #WellDressing tradition and yet again the village of Whitwell have created an absolute gem! #AroundTheWorldIn80Days
How's your evening gone? Mine was painstakingly slow. #welldressing
One more, the small ones were cute too. #WellDressing #Pagan
We went to see the well dressings at Newborough today. It's an ancient Derbyshire tradition. Flowers and leaves, shells, nuts and stems are pressed into boards of wet clay like an organic mosaic The effort and artistry is amazing. My photos don't do them justice really. #Colourful #WellDressing #Pagan
