Was on the hooch at dawn this morning and finally landed a fish. I saw one bald eagle, two herons, and a kingfisher.

Got out fishing this morning. I was the first person there. The run was full of cormorants and great blue herons. I also saw bald eagles and an osprey. They mostly took off when I showed up. I caught a rainbow trout and a brown trout.
Got a little creek therapy in after work this afternoon. We were looking for Shoal Bass and Chattahoochee Bass. Only caught sunfish. The weather bounced back and forth between rain and sun.

I'm in Ohio for the holidays, and we did a little bit of fishing today. I caught this trout on a #12 wet fly. These are the last of the no-name barbless hooks that I ordered from big ubiquitous internet vendor to tie my first flies. It's got a pheasant hackle, some green wool, and a pink hot spot right at the bend of the hook. I swung the fly with a regular roll cast on a regular cheapo weight-forward fly line using my 3wt rod.
I did return to the swamp last night. This was certainly not my largest catch, but it was the most interesting catch.

Last night I went to check out Sweetwater Creek State Park. It is a little too far away to visit multiple times a week. I caught a couple of brilliant Red Breast Sunfish and a small Shoal Bass.
Tonight, I went to a familiar swamp, and the fishing was hot. I caught 5 different kinds of sunfish and totally lost track of the number of fish. Caught all of them on a size 12 wet fly with my 4 weight rod.

Pumpkin spice glass beads for pumpkin spice sunfish. For some reason, I start seeing these warmouth sunfish late summer into early fall.
I caught it on a new-to-me Fenwick FF70 7' 5-6 weight fiberglass fly rod that has the date 7/7/70 written on the rod tube. The glass beads came from a bead shop in Athens Ohio. One of the feathers came from a pheasant, and the other came from my new ratty rooster skin.
