Urban Cycles

This tries maybe a bit too hard to be burial-esque, but I don't think I've ever fully nailed that aesthetics in a way that this track does before. I wish I had a bit more time to tweak and diversify t

As I've uploaded my latest #WeeklyBeats2026 track, I'm realizing how much of my musical journey this year is about textures. I have a set of tools now (In the literal sense as VSTs but also in the sense of knowing what to do with them to reach a specific goal) in my toolbag I did not have three years ago. In 2024 I started experimenting, this year I'm really starting to understand what I'm doing.

My stuff sounds less clinical now, grittier and often much closer to what I had in mind.

I've kept up the WeeklyBeats, just haven't been spamming yous every week.

Somehow we're up to week 20 of 2026!

Week 18: Sportsperson
A piano piece (mostly) that never returns to the same chord twice

WB2619 More To The Groove

This was one of those weeks where, several hours into one track, you have to abandon it because it simply does not speak to you anymore. So I started from scratch and came up with this Garage thing.

Made it to week 17 of WeeklyBeats! This week I made another track with paperthinphil ; definitely inspired by the show we saw last week.

Week 17 of WeeklyBeats, 'Pigeonhole'.

What's not me this week? Fast (155bpm), hard beats (imo๐Ÿ˜…), almost no melodic or harmonic stuff.

I haven't plugged my music dabbling, until now. Consider this a test balloon ๐Ÿ˜ฌ If you're annoyed, let me know - or mute the hashtag weeklybeats2026 altogether.

Let The Arp Do Its Thing

release for Weekly Beats 2026 Week 16 Just a few synths playing simple patterns, a lead arp and a (probably bored) drum machine.

Oh, wait, it's Monday. Well, at least take this musical equivalent.

Several Instances

Originally I was planning on something a little a little more abstract but after a bit of experimenting in the beginning this track basically made itself. The base sample is an E-Piano loop I recorded (or rather: bounced in Ableton) and then slowed down to 50%. As usual, a lot of XLN RC-20 and Cymatics Origin involved in getting the sound as crunchy and noisy as possible. All in all, this took about 2 hours start to finish and I am happy with the result. Could I have taken a couple of extra passes on the noodling or at least make it a tiny bit more quantized? Sure. Do I think it would've helped? Probably not.

Week 16 of WeeklyBeats, 'On Kilter'.

This track changes tempo every 4 bars all the way through, based on repitching a loop like it was on a piece of tape - to get to a new chord, you have to slow down or speed up.

On Kilter

Aims for this week Things I tried to do that I don't usually: Build a track around pitching a sample up and down like changing tape speed, letting the track change tempo with the chord changes. No custom sounds. No fx. Read more As always, there are process notes on my blog.
