@patrickbrosset Great to see the Chromium family join #webkit in support of this! π₯³
https://caniuse.com/wf-scoped-custom-element-registries is gonna be full up of awesomeness before too much longer π
Inversely, I love, love, love how this "just worksβ’οΈ" in #chromium π

Where's my #webkit and #mozilla peeps at?!?
You're seeing that right, `:host(:has(...))` and `:host:has(...)` are different, in a good way, but supported differently across browsers, in a bad way. Let's go head a build ALL the things that are meant to be in the browser. Not just some.
Pretty please π

@goulet @11ty Were you able to prove out that at ship time the repeated DSD was causing performance issues? Some implementors maintain that compression tooling is enough to alleviate that issue, but they'd likely be swayed by data/reason in the form of lived experience as we look to have better APIs like Declarative CSS Module Scripts and, hopefully, (Declarative) HTML Module Scripts.
Because the world should be a slightly better place, and that includes the often greater that 1/3 of my week where working is happening, let people know how you feel about HTML at https://survey.devographics.com/en-US/survey/state-of-html/2025/ Future us's will thank us. π€¨
@leaverou These all power HTML in some way or other...
- Scoped Custom Element Registries
- Reference Target API
- elementInternals.type https://github.com/MicrosoftEdge/MSEdgeExplainers/blob/main/ElementInternalsType/explainer.md
- Declarative CSS Modules and the adoptedstylesheets attribute https://github.com/MicrosoftEdge/MSEdgeExplainers/blob/main/ShadowDOM/explainer.md
- Declarative Partial Updates https://github.com/WICG/declarative-partial-updates
- DOM Parts
- Platform based windowing/virtualization
- <tabs>
I've got lots more for CSS/JS if you get signed up for those.
Good luck with the survey!
@bkardell @nomster Very interesting. Shares desires with a lot of discussions that have been happening in the #webComponentsCG as of late. Definitely see the super powers this could bring to both SPA AND MPA structures sites/applications. How can the community support moving something like this forward?
