FYI, the same problem of some non-active/background tabs constantly using 20% of CPU time because they’re stuck in some kind of repainting loop persists in Safari 26.3 @jensimmons @fastmail

app.fastmail.com are github.com are common culprits but it happens with other sites too (this problem is new in Safari 26.x and didn’t exist in Safari 18.x).

Safari 26.3 is here with Zstandard compression and Navigation API improvements. Cool.

Meanwhile, your M5 iPad Pro still tells every website it's an Intel Mac running macOS 10.15.7. A six-year-old OS on a chip Apple stopped selling years ago.

The real problem? iPadOS Safari isn't macOS Safari. It's iOS Safari in a desktop disguise. Apple even told the EU they're "totally different products" when it was legally convenient.
