Our key - in full in the manifesto PDFs - explains each numbered area and links to briefings and sites with more information.

We just HAVE to spend more time trying to get to that nature-rich future, instead of the nature-poor dystopia we risk hurtling into if we keep taking nature for granted.

76% of people in a survey think current and future governments need to take more action to tackle the loss of nature - and we agree!

As we come up to next year's Senedd election, we urge all political parties to listen to voters and ensure nature isn't left behind. #WeNeedNature #AngenNatur

Welsh public supports urgent action for nature - new poll

People in Wales want stronger protections for nature according to a new nature and wildlife survey. The most recent report on the State of Nature in Wales shows that one in six species are now threatened with extinction nationally, and there has been a 20% drop in Wales’ wildlife since 1994. But according to the latest […]

A helpful report from Audit Wales yesterday, highlighting that the duty on all local authorities - and indeed Welsh Gov - to restore nature has not been well implemented or prioritised.

You can check it out here: https://wao.gov.uk/news/nature-emergency-has-not-been-high-enough-priority

Here's a couple of responses from our members. It really is just symptomatic of the age old problem of governing for nature; duties, reports and tick boxes do very little. We need follow through, action and funding.

Glad to see coverage of this important report from the Senedd's Climate Change, Environment & Infrastructure Committee 🌱🌿

Wales failing to tackle alarming decline in nature, report finds

One in six Welsh species threatened with extinction but report says Welsh government lacks ‘action and investment’

We've submitted to the Senedd's Climate Committee inquiry on nature loss, you can read it here: https://waleslink.org/submission-to-senedd-committee-on-halting-and-reversing-the-loss-of-nature-by-2030/

As our Species Champion MSs know well, 1 in 6 species are at risk of extinction in Wales. We need the policies & funds to save them!

The committee will hold evidence panels next month. We have so many opportunities for improvements, like the Sustainable Farming Scheme, designating Marine Protected Areas & expanding the Nature Networks Fund.

Submission to Senedd Committee on 'Halting and Reversing the Loss of Nature by 2030' - Wales Environment Link

The Climate Change, Environment and Infrastructure Committee launched an inquiry into halting and reversing the loss of nature by 2030 in August 2024, and our members are set to give further oral evidence in September. The questions focused on the Biodiversity Deep Dive recommendations; meeting our COP 15 targets, as part of the Global Biodiversity Framework; and […]
