The lights have been out all week in the Walmart/dead mall parking lot where I catch the morning bus to my day job. This bus is consistently 15 to 20 minutes late. This parking lot is not a very pleasant place to be in the day time, let alone on cold, dark winter mornings.

My dad ended up in the ICU in a town about 40km away (he’s doing well). This is his normal hospital. We have 10 family members in town, and my partner and I are the only ones capable of driving. Public transportation to this hospital from our town barely exists.

I’m completely happy to take the support role, but it is alarming that without my partner and I, everything would break down. I’m switching to the medical provider in my town.

Public transit has become pretty grim in my area. I’m going to start a log, but I estimate 1 out of every 3 of my bus trips, the bus is 20 or more minutes late, or just doesn’t show up at all.

Rats ate through a wiring harness on my 2005 Honda Pilot while it was parked on the street in front of my house. What’s to stop them from doing this again once I it is repaired? Owning a car is the hugest pain in the ass. I hate everything about it. If I wasn’t a gigging musician, I wouldn’t own one.

California transit infrastructure just isn’t set up for double bass players.
