“Islands, Fog” — Two reed-covered wetlands islands in winter tule fog.

At times I like to make photographs that contain as little detail as possible, photographs that might suggest more than they tell. The most distinct feature in this scene is the darker island at the left. Beyond that we see (barely) one more island and then nothing. @AndrewHenry California produces nearly 5x the Florida citrus crop. Same story with peaches, CA produces vastly more than Georgia. It’s just marketing that makes people associate produce with other states. Nothing grows well in sand, your food comes from the Central Valley of California #centralvalley

“Wetland Plants” — Slender plants growing in a quiet wetland pond.

This is another “adapt and try something else” photograph from my early December visit to California wetlands — a visit originally intended to focus on migratory birds and tule fog, neither of which turned up in abundance when I arrived. So I looked for alternatives that didn’t require birds and which still worked under a thick, gray overcast.
