I feel like I've been here before....

Now, I'm headed to LA for #WE23. Excited to see all my #SWEple.

I'll be on a panel with Stephanie Gillespie, Yanfen Li, and Nicole Jackson. We will be talking about navigating early career changes to the traditional academic career path on Friday.

Panel Questions

We are coordinating a WE23 Session titled, "Navigating Changes to Early Career Trajectories in Academia." We'd love to have audience questions for our recorded panel as well. Please submit your questions in the form below. Session description: There are a growing number of career options in academia and national research labs. It can be daunting to identify which path is the right fit for you. The most well-known path is graduate school, post-doctoral associate, then tenure-track professor. However, that path may not be possible or suited for everyone. The panelists will discuss alternate paths from graduate school to mid-career as an academic and how each of them identified changes and successfully adapted to new roles. The panelists have navigated many changes including administrative roles and adding research responsibilities. Two of the panelist also have industry experience. In each case, many of the changes were not the expected path earlier in their career.
