So what’s a quick/easy solution to compile/debug on a Mac until mid April? (Please share/boost)
The bad news is that Visual Studio for Mac is now officially discontinued.
The good news is that you can get #JetBrainsRider with a 65% discount for the next few days.
That’d be around 60€ for a one year subscription in Europe.

Looks like VS Code will be Microsoft’s answer to dotnet development on Mac going forward. Hopefully this means that we’ll see focused improvements to the new C# Dev Kit extension in VS Code.
It seems unlikely, but is this a glimpse into the future for Visual Studio on Windows?

Today we are announcing the retirement of the Visual Studio for Mac IDE. Visual Studio for Mac 17.6 will continue to be supported for another 12 months, until August 31st, 2024, with servicing updates for security issues and updated platforms from Apple.
Really sad to hear that #Microsoft is killing #VisualStudioForMac 😐
Since the release of dotnet core, I had used jetBrains Rider on macOS, but after Microsoft re-branded Xamarin Studio to be VS for Mac it became my primary IDE on my macOS laptops.
I guess it's back to Rider? 🤷♂️ I don't view VS Code as a viable alternative -- while powerful, compared to other IDEs such as Visual Studio on Windows or jetBrains Rider makes VS code just feel like a fancy text editor.
