Excellencies, Colleagues, Friends, My thanks to the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs for marking this milestone anniversary. It is great to have so many familiar faces from around the world here with us. It is especially moving to be here, as an Austrian and as High Commissioner, on this occasion. Growing up in Austria in the aftermath of World War II, the echoes of trauma and of grave human rights violations were palpable. We were shaken by them, we were shaped by them.
