My sophomore year in high school (‘79-‘80) was when I first became aware of Robin Trower with this album, the title track of which I’d be playing on the radio a few years later (along with much more Trower material) and is the current ear worm.

The 79-year old Robin Trower announced earlier today health issues have forced him to cancel his latest U.S. tour. Guys like that will always have a stage of sorts here on deck if I have anything to say about it.

A Saturday morning jam and the very first thing I remember ever hearing from Robin Trower: I was a 15 year-old high school sophomore and this tune actually got airplay on 95.5 WIFC/Wausau, Wisconsin. I became a Trower fan, playing the band’s stuff on the air four or five years later at my first commercial radio gig out yonder in the panhandle of Nebraska.

The rock world lost a helluva vocalist (and bass player) in 2002 when Jim DeWar died; he handled the vocals on most Robin Trower’s best albums throughout the 70s and into the 80s, this the title track to Trower’s offering from 1980, my introduction to Robin Trower’s music as a 15 year old.
