There's a scene in "The Battle of Britain" of the morning in Fighter Command where the phones and radio are quiet, the movements map is clear, and everyone is standing still waiting for things to kick off. You could cut the tension with a knife. I can imagine something like that in VicEmergency today. Good luck to you all and to VicEmergency - Barwon South West, and to all the teams out there.

Advice from #VicEmergency re smoke from #VicFires

Not ONE MENTION OF USING A MASK.

Not one.

We continue to live in the #COVID19 #pandemic and we have learnt nothing. Not a fucking thing.

Upgraded #iPhone to #iOS18 and of course the #VicEmergency app has decided it can no longer send any notifications to me.

It did the same thing last year when I got a new iPhone.

Except this time nothing their website says to fix this actually does.

I suspect the the fact the app hasn't been updated in 2+ years might have something to do with this!

Pretty crap effort from #VicGov IMHO.

Just discovered the Vic Emergency app was not sending me any notifications.

Reading their help pages says that if you update your device you have to delete all your watch zones, completely uninstall the app, then reinstall the app followed by recreating al your your watch zones.

So I have a single watch zone and am super tech savvy and actually read the help but seriously why? Who designed this?

Other apps cope with a device update and kept sending me notifications so why can't an app designed for emergency use handle this automagically?

Or at least tell me when I launch the app after updating my iPhone! Don't just silently fail until I end up wondering why I've not received a single alert whilst being hammered with rain in a thunderstorm 🤦🏻‍♂️

Emergency Management Victoria

Currently listening to 3 strike teams being called in to the area around Kennett River and the supposed ABC Emergency
Services are broadcasting fluff. Unfuckingbelievable (only it's not any more).
