Day 9/20: Carve the Mark – Veronica Roth

disability rep in a different flavor than one for all (earlier in the thread). i loved the magic system, and thought chronic pain was well-portrayed. also, i love seeing stories with chronic illness that isn’t the main focus (though there is and should always be room for those stories too).

i’ve re-read this once already and sometimes i find certain moments living rent-free in my head. characters are written with depth – sympathetic villains and flawed protagonists you just can’t help but root for.

highly recommended, very page-turning and, imho, much better than divergent
