Notable uptick across all democracy indices with #VDem for #Mongolia.
Had been puzzled by past steady declines (see https://mongoliafocus.com/2025/12/self-censorship/ for implications), now I fail to be able to point to any factor in past 18 months that should lead to improvement.
Het jaarlijkse V-dem (varieties in democracy) rapport is de moeite waard om door te nemen.
Nederland scoort nog steeds goed in de democratie index, maar ten opzichte van 2015 is er wel duidelijke achteruitgang.
Een zwakte in ons land is met name de mate van participatie in politiek. Op veel aspecten staan we rond de 20ste plaats (in de wereld) maar met participatie is het slechts de 50ste.
Teleurstelling is Polen. De omkeer lijkt te stokken
