🇺🇦Ukrainian Minister of Education Lisovyi asked Poland to introduce Ukrainian as a second foreign language in PL schools (if parents and children choose).

🇵🇱Polish is already studied by 200K students in Ukrainian schools.

How do you think, will Poles make an effort for friendship?

That was not part of my bingo card today... Getting a group call of an unknown number, then picking up and recognising only 1 voice: baba. And 3 people in the call we even have no idea who they are/why they were in the group.

I tried my best when it was just us and Baba to say a couple of sentences in Ukrainian but honestly, without warning all the words flew out of my head.

After that I needed a stiff drink so a shot of horilka was in order. Now I need a lie down 😂🤣😂

Please boost widely.

Six-week Intensive Beginner & Intermediate #UkrainianLanguage courses are offered by the prestigious Summer Language Institute at the University of #Pittsburgh.

My first Ukrainian teacher, Tetiana, who lives in Ivano-Frankivsk, taught in the program for the first time last summer and she loved Pittsburgh. She’s delighted to be returning this summer and says the university offers good scholarships. So, if you’re into languages and are looking for a great way to get more insight into Ukrainian history and culture, check out this program.

Throughout history, Ukrainian language was banned 134 times. Still, it lives, just like Ukraine.

DERUSSIFICATION IN UKRAINE: WHY and HOW We SHOULD Support the UKRAINIAN Language? #ukrainianlanguage

The process of DIVERSIFICATION IN UKRAINE is ongoing: this time, we will discuss the post-soviet issue of using the Russian language in daily life and the necessity of a full-fledged transition to Ukrainian. And answer the question: why is it important for Ukrainians to cut all ties with the Russian past, speak state language, and promote Ukrainian language abroad? The Ukrainian language in everyday life or as a nightingale language has become a trend in 2022. After the Russian full-scale invasion, The Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) conducted a survey and found out that Ukrainians began to speak their native language more often at home, at work, at school, or when searching for information on the Internet. Ukrainian is spoken in the family circle: • Constantly – 50% • Almost always – 12% • 16% speak russian, and 19% speak both languages. Currently, 58% of surveyed Ukrainians do not consider russian important. Let us add that 80% of our fellow citizens believe that the population of Ukraine should be Ukrainian-speaking, while only 15% are in favor of bilingualism. ☝️ Very interesting personal language (sovereignty) journey...

「The mass displacement caused by Russia‘s war has made Ukrainians from all parts of the country listen to each other and pick up new linguistic tricks. It is by pronouncing the Ukrainian word for a loaf of bread, “palianytsia,” that a friend is now distinguished from a foe at the military checkpoints around the country. Perfectly pronounced by Russophone Ukrainians, the combination of vowels and consonants makes Russians choke on the word connoting hospitality in the country they invaded.」

Personally, and not being one from the ever-pathetic 'russkiy mir', the only russian I'd learn — until a few more accidentally learnt grunts well after my teens — was 'ruki vehr'... Thanks grandpa, for sharing all that you or anyone really should ever need to know about russia!

I'll probably never be totally comfortable seeing kyrillics, but before (or while) visiting Ukraine I'm totally going pick up some #Ukrainian.
