While Ubuntu 26.04 LTS Resolute Raccoon’s development is coming to an end on April 23rd as the official version releases, Canonical has revealed the codename for the next version of Ubuntu, which is now officially announced as of today.

Ubuntu 26.10’s codename has been officially revealed in Canonical’s Ubuntu’s X account as “Stonking Stingray”!

This was after the official confirmation has been made in the Ubuntu Discourse forums where users tried to guess Ubuntu 26.10’s next release codename as the same codename.

The release schedule of the next version of Ubuntu has already been revealed before Ubuntu 26.04 LTS was released, and the schedule says that the next version is expected to be released on October 15th of this year.

After a week of releasing the official version of Ubuntu 26.04 LTS Resolute Raccoon, the development of Ubuntu 26.10 Stonking Stingray will start.
