Uber has teamed up with Expedia to let users book hotels directly within the Uber app, adding more than 700,000 worldwide properties. The move expands Uber’s services—already covering rides, food delivery and parking—into travel, with a focus on becoming a single‑app platform for all consumer needs. Uber One members receive at least a 20 % discount on select hotels and earn 10 % back in Uber Credits, while the company rolls out AI‑powered voice booking and unified search. The partnership leverages CEO Dara Khosrowshahi’s former leadership at Expedia and comes as Uber One’s user base grows to 46 million, up 55 % year‑over‑year.

Uber has rolled out a new hotel‑booking feature in its app, using AI‑powered coding assistants that compressed what would normally be a year‑long development cycle into just a few months. The integration, built with tools like Cursor, connects users to more than 700,000 hotels through Expedia’s network (with Vrbo added later in the year) and offers Uber One members a 20 % discount on select properties plus 10 % of the spend back as Uber Credits. By eliminating traditional engineering bottlenecks, Uber’s CTO describes the process as a “fundamental reset” that will let product teams launch ambitious features faster, positioning the ride‑hailing giant against traditional travel platforms such as Booking.com and Airbnb with AI‑driven voice bookings, local recommendations, and even “room service” via Uber Eats. This shift signals that software development timelines are now limited more by user adoption than by engineering capacity.

Uber announced at its Go‑Get event in New York that it is adding a hotel‑booking feature powered by a new AI voice assistant, in partnership with Expedia Group. The service, initially rolled out in the U.S. Uber app, lets users browse and book more than 700,000 hotels worldwide, with automatic discounts of up to 20 % on a rotating list of 10,000 hotels and a 10 % Uber Credits rebate for Uber One members. An AI‑driven Voice Booking Assistant also enables hands‑free ride reservations, while the app now displays full pricing—including taxes, fees and discounts—and the earned credits will be credited within 24 hours of check‑in. Uber’s CTO noted that using Agentic AI cut the development timeline from a year to six months, and the CEO framed the expansion as part of Uber’s evolution into a single app for “go, get, and now travel.” Additional in‑app features such as Travel Mode, Uber One International benefits, Shop for Me, Eats for the Way, and One Search aim to streamline the entire travel experience, with Uber rides to be integrated into the Expedia app by June and Vrbo rentals slated for later in the year.

Uber adds hotel bookings and travel features as it tries to become your everything app

I just got done doing a thing. I cancelled my #UberEats #UberOne membership. I ordered McDonald's tonight. The driver farted around for 10 minutes before making the 10 minute drive to deliver my food. I know this because the countdown as to when she would be here didn't move for quite a while. So obviously when I did get my food it was ice cold. That was the last straw. I didn't even want to use Uber Eats but the mom and Pop delivery company that I normally use closes at nine. So under duress I used it. I had it on a three month trial, and this was the first month they charged me for it. As a last ditch effort to keep me as a member, hey. I just said member. But I digress. they offered me 90% off the monthly fee for three months, which meant that I would've paid three dollars a month for three months. In the comments I stated that I rarely if ever got hot food delivered to me. Even if I paid the extra to have food delivered directly to me. I said they needed to do better to get food that is supposed to be served hot to their customers. And because they don't honour refunds for cold food I had no recourse. I also didn't get sauce for my nuggets. So I had to eat cold boring bland nuggets. I will still keep the app on my phone because it's handy to read restaurant menus in an accessible format. But as for the rest of it, byyye!

Uber One is rolling out family sharing and some sweet holiday perks, like free deliveries and a $25 Best Buy discount via Uber Eats. Because who *doesn't* want to subsidize their family's late-night snack habits? Are these perks actually good, or just another reason to question your subscription choices?

#UberEats #UberOne doesn't give you "free" delivery.

The restaurant is already paying for your delivery in its inflated prices (in combination with the inflated minimum you have to spend to qualify for free delivery even when you're paying for UberOne).

UberOne just means you don't give UberEats another delivery fee on top for doing absolutely nothing.
